This work-in-progress will be suspended over a new pedestrian plaza outside the BART station. Fifteen, hand-formed, giant stainless steel dandelion seeds will bob and turn in the wind, responding to the elements that normally carry aloft this icon of childhood.
Dandelions
The sculpture will be approximately fifteen, individual dandelion seeds that are each about six feet tall and five feet wide. The seeds are fabricated from hand-formed and welded stainless steel that will resist weathering and maintain its durability for the lifetime of the piece. Each dandelion seed will be unique since they will be hand crafted with an organic character and variety to their shape.
